The Symposium on Information Assurance Research and Education, hosted by ASU's Center for Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics, brings together students, researchers, industry, and government officials to address the current cybersecurity challenges facing our modern society. Presentations from various cybersecurity industry professionals (Allstate, PayPal, State Farm, Early Warning, and the FBI).

The Symposium on Information Assurance Research and Education, hosted by ASU's Center for Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics, brings together student's, researchers, industry, and government officials to address the current cybersecurity challenges facing our modern society.
There will be talks by cybersecurity industry professionals from Allstate, State Farm, and Early Warning, as well as a presentation by an FBI special agent. We will conclude the session with a panel discussion.
Breakfast will be provided from 8:30am to 10:00am, lunch will be provided during the poster session from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, and a reception will conclude the symposium from 4:30pm to 5:30pm

Nathan Gibson | MsIA, CISSP, CSSLP, CISM, RHCE, CCNA, MCSA | Allstate
Nathan is an Information Security & Privacy Professional who specializes in continuous integration, inspection, and deployment environments. He brings information security and risk management concepts into the product portfolio realization pipeline and embeds the behavior naturally into design, develop, test, and refactor pipelines.
Joaquin Fuentes | MBA, CEH, CPT, CISA, CISSP | Early Warning Services
Joqaiun is the Sr. Manager of Penetration Testing at Early Warning Services, has been an information security professional since 2001, and has held various roles performing physical and full-stack penetration testing, static source code analysis, social engineering, consulting, and security investigations. Consulting pentests he has performed include successful ethical hacks of banks, oil companies, retail companies, and a major auto manufacturer. He is passionate about helping to grow the security community by leading the Phoenix OWASP Chapter and by working with his team to provide free security training and capture-the-flag events. In his spare time, Joaquin enjoys reading, hack challenges, photography and drone videography.
Erin F. Gibbs | Special Agent | Federal Bureau of Investigation
Erin F. Gibbs, Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has been an agent for over 15 years. SA Gibbs worked in Washington D.C. field office for 11 years working counterintelligence, counterterrorism, espionage and cyber counterintelligence cases. Upon transfer to the Phoenix Division in 2013, SA Gibbs continued work on cyber counterintelligence and transitions to cyber criminal work in late 2014.
Jonathan Cain | Software Developer | State Farm IT R&D
Jonathan Cain is a computer engineer and data scientist with a focus on artificial intelligence. His academic research experience includes numerical analysis, computational optics, computational biology, and mathematical optimization. Jonathan has performed as a concert cellist and presented ethnomusicological research in Europe, Asia, and across the United States and Mexico.
Dave Dohrmann | CISSP - InfoSec Analyst | State Farm IT R&D
Dave has 25+ years IT experience with Electronic Data Systems and Hewlett-Packard with emphasis on new and emerging technology solutions including electric vehicle and new vehicle development and testing for General Motors. Before joining State Farm in 2015, Dave performed as a solution architect for numerous U. S. Navy / U. S. Marine Corps solutions conforming to mandated DOD security requirements. Dave performed as solution architect for implementation of enterprise USN cryptographic logon and migration of the Navy Standard Integrated Personnel System (NSIPS) to a multi-site COOP architecture. Dave holds CISSP certification #402985 and is member of both the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) and the Arizona InfraGard, Phoenix chapter. Dave earned degrees in Photography & Cinema and Industrial Engineering from The Ohio State University and the University of Arizona.
