Center for Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics

The Center for Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics (CDF) brings together subject matter experts from across ASU — including leading faculty in law, business, engineering, psychology, public service, social sciences and criminology — to produce new tools and technologies and accelerate educational opportunities.

A unified front for cyber defense

We coordinate with industry and government partners to ensure high-impact and practical solutions to real-world cybersecurity challenges. CDF has partnered with tech companies including Google, Microsoft, IBM, Samsung and Paypal, as well as government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, the Office of Naval Research and the Army Research Office.

Committed to education and training

CDF was designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in both Information Assurance Education and Information Assurance Research by a joint National Security Agency and U.S. Department of Homeland Security program. The center takes a hands-on approach to education, which includes encouraging students to participate in capture-the-flag competitions, collegiate cyber challenges and industry-sponsored events to sharpen their skills. For example, the ASU pwndevils are an ethical hacking student club with approximately 130 members. The club competes against other university clubs in challenges around the country, and placed No. 10 out of 481 teams at the 2016 National Security Agency Codebreakers Challenge.
